God Is Not In Creation

God Is Not In Creation

Creator Calling

The Word of God is clear that God isn’t in the created, though He uses the created repeatedly to communicate.

In Revelation (4)  we read that God is worshiped by the four living creatures and by the 24 elders because He created all things and by His will they were created and (by His will) they have their being. In other words, God made it because he wanted to. And it’s still existing, functional, viable and living out its created purpose because He wants it to. It’s important to note that it may no longer be in its original state because we live in a  fallen world, corrupted by sin.  Creation, just like us, is waiting to be fully redeemed (Romans 8:19-22).

But there is a vast difference between being involved in the creation of a thing, or even its ongoing functions and being within it.   An artist is not in their painting. An architect is not the building. An engineer isn’t in the machine. Some say,”Yes, but much of creation is sentient and that’s proof God is within it.  But it simply does not apply. Jesus holds it all together (Col 1:17) , but no thing or creature can contain our omnipotent and omniscient Creator.

1 Kings 19:11-13The Lord said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.” Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. 12 After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. 13 When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave. Then a voice said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1+Kings+19%3A11-13&version=NIV
